Erasmus+ funds guest lectureships at European partner universities that have a valid Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE). Through their stay, guest lecturers should strengthen the European dimension of the host university, complement its teaching offer and impart their specialist knowledge to students who do not want to or cannot study abroad.
If possible, the development of joint study programs between the partner universities as well as the exchange of teaching content and methods should play a role. Staff from foreign companies and organizations can also be invited to German universities for teaching purposes.
Staff mobility must take place in a program country that is not the country of the sending university and not the main country of residence of the person concerned.
University staff from a German higher education institution with an ECHE may be funded for teaching purposes at a host higher education institution with an ECHE(outgoing mobility) and staff from another institution based in another program country(incoming mobility) who are active in the labor market or in the fields of general and vocational education or youth may be funded for teaching purposes at a German higher education institution with an ECHE.
Repeat funding is generally possible, but priority is given to people who have not yet completed an Erasmus stay.
Teaching stays within Europe last between two days and two months (excluding travel time); the teaching workload is eight hours for the first week of the stay or a shorter stay. The minimum number of hours is calculated pro rata for each additional day of the stay beyond one week (seven days).
The following group of people can be funded
- Professors and lecturers with a contractual relationship with the university
- Lecturers without remuneration
- Lecturers with work contracts
- Emeritus professors and retired lecturers
- Academic staff
- Company personnel
Only employees who are on the university's payroll and are therefore eligible to apply for a business trip are eligible for funding.
The Erasmus+ mobility grant includes travel and accommodation costs, which can be subsidized as unit costs (fixed lump sums). Parallel funding for similar costs from other EU programs is excluded.
