Study Buddy

Are you studying at Clausthal University of Technology and will soon be spending a semester/internship abroad or have you already been abroad?

If one or more of these points apply to you, then the Study Buddy Program is just right for you.

How does it work?
Register using the registration form (see Downloads) and send it to us by e-mail. As soon as we have your details, we will look for a suitable buddy for you. This may take some time, the IZC will contact you as soon as a suitable partner has been found.

What happens next?
You will be in contact with your buddy before he/she arrives in Clausthal so that all questions, such as travel and finding accommodation, can be discussed and clarified at an early stage.

When you arrive in Clausthal, you should pick up your buddy from the bus stop and accompany him/her for the first few steps. Ideally, you should have already made preparations, such as getting the key and the tenancy agreement for the room. During a walk around the Clausthal campus and through the city, you can exchange initial information and get to know each other better. You should then provide your buddy with help and advice and accompany him/her, e.g. when registering at the residents' registration office and the immigration office, registering at the IZC, opening a bank account and signing a cell phone contract.

The form and frequency of the meetings depends on the needs of the respective buddy and on your commitment, as the program is largely self-designed.

Note: Participation in the Study Buddy Program can lead to the acquisition of the Certificate of Intercultural Competence - CertIC can be credited.
