Conditional Admission

Applicants with who fulfil the formal requirements for an admisison and have little or no German language skills can take part in intensive fee-based German language intensive courses at our partner language schools (Volkshochschule Goslar and Sprachenzentrum Mariaspring) in Clausthal to prepare for their studies.

If you apply for a degree program taught in German, you will receive conditional admission to the program and, at the same time, confirmation of registration for a German language intensive course. With these documents, you may apply for a visa at the German diplomatic mission in your home country. Applicants applying from within Germany will not be considered for a conditional admission. 

Applications for conditional admission are submitted via the general application portal of Clausthal University of Technology.

The semester for your admission depends on the level of your German language skills. For example, if you are applying for the winter semester and can submit proof of German language skills at A2 level at the time of application, you will need at least 6 months to reach the required C1 level. This means that your admission would be issued for the following summer semester.

Please note that the processing of individual applications cannot be expedited. Please do not make an appointment to apply for a visa at the German Embassy before you have received conditional admission.
