Intercultural Competence

People from many different countries study and work together at Clausthal University of Technology. The university is therefore a testing ground for multinational coexistence. In order to support you in acquiring intercultural competence, the IZC offers various events in the field of intercultural communication.

Workshop/Seminar Intercultural Competence/Intercultural Training
Here you will be sensitized to intercultural differences in international groups and train your intercultural communication skills. The seminar "Intercultural Competence" is recognized as a compulsory elective subject in some degree courses. The seminar is offered in German and English.

International regulars' table
The IZC organizes a fortnightly intercultural regulars' table. Here you can discuss current topics with German and international students in an informal atmosphere. Regular attendance at the International Stammtisch is compulsory for language tandem participants who wish to acquire ECTS points.

CertIC - the certificate for intercultural competence
With the "CertIC" certificate, you can have your intercultural competence confirmed if

• you have taken part in one of our free workshops or seminars on intercultural competence (see above) and
• you have gained intercultural experience and/or
• you are involved in cultural exchange.

To obtain this certificate, various partial achievements are required. These partial achievements are recorded on a routing slip, which you can download here.
