Social participation and diversity are key themes of the Erasmus+ program generation 2021-2027.
By removing potential barriers, the aim is to improve access conditions for participants to spend time abroad. Depending on the funding line, project and type of mobility, participants with fewer opportunities can receive additional financial support in the form of monthly top-up amounts, travel allowances or real costs for their stay and preparatory travel.
1. international mobility with a child
Students who are funded for a stay abroad via Erasmus+ and are traveling abroad with their child/children can apply for a monthly lump sum via their university, which is paid out in addition to the regular Erasmus+ funding rate.
The lump sum (regardless of the number of children) is EUR 250 per month.
Please contact the International Center of Clausthal University of Technology in good time before your stay abroad so that you can receive the corresponding application for special funding.

2. mobility abroad with a disability / chronic illness
Option 1: Funding through a lump-sum grant
Students and graduates with a GdB of at least 20 or a chronic illness who have been accepted by their home university for an Erasmus+-funded study or internship abroad can receive funding in the form of a lump-sum grant.
Please inform us at the Clausthal University of Technology's International Center about your additional requirements. Regardless of the country in which you will spend your stay abroad, the monthly grant amounts to EUR 250.
Option 2: Funding through a separate application ("long application")
Do you need barrier-free accommodation, travel assistance, medical care abroad, adaptation of learning materials, an accompanying person, etc.? Depending on your additional financial requirements, you can apply for a one-off grant or submit a personal application ("long application") for additional funds.
Students and graduates with a GdB of at least 20 or a chronic illness who have been accepted by their home university for an Erasmus+-funded study or internship abroad can submit an application.
You can apply for the special funding of a maximum of EUR 15,000 per semester and EUR 30,000 per academic year and per mobility at the Clausthal University of Technology's International Center. The application amount will be calculated according to your personal needs and paid out in addition to the regular Erasmus+ funding rate. Please note that only additional costs can be taken into account that
- are not covered by national agencies (integration offices, health insurance companies, regional associations, social welfare offices, student services).
- incurred by you during your stay abroad. These include, for example, flight costs and costs for accommodation for accompanying assistants or for barrier-free accommodation.
As you will have to provide evidence of the difference between the costs in Germany and abroad, please allow sufficient time to submit your application.
The application should be submitted to the International Center of Clausthal University of Technology at least three months before your departure, from where the application will be submitted to the NA DAAD.
The special funds will then be calculated on the basis of the actual additional costs incurred.
