Students at Clausthal University of Technology, both Bachelor's and Master's students, now have the opportunity to complete an engineering-oriented internship within Europe or worldwide as part of the IAESTE program.

IAESTE stands for International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience and is an internship program that currently offers internships in over 80 countries on 6 continents. Here, companies and institutes of higher education mainly offer technology and engineering-oriented internships. They generally last 8 to 12 weeks, usually take place in the summer months and are remunerated so that local living costs can be covered.

If interns have any questions, support offices are available both at the home university and abroad. At Clausthal University of Technology, the Clausthal International Center has been the support office for IAESTE internships since this year - for international students completing an internship at the TUC and for TUC students completing an internship abroad.

You can find basic information about IAESTE and the structure in Germany here.

The next steps

If you are interested in an IAESTE internship abroad, you must register on the IAESTE platform in order to be able to apply for an internship. You can find more information on the application procedure, registration and access to the platform here.

Once you have registered, there are currently two possible routes to an IAESTE internship:

First path: Perhaps you are interested in one of the two internships that the IZC has "reserved" for TU Clausthal students until March 1, 2022? This is an Internship for students in mechanical engineering in Uzbekistan and an internship for computer science students in Macedonia.

If you are interested in one of the two places, please send an expression of interest by e-mail to Mr. Markus Heidemann from the Clausthal International Center (markus.heidemann@tu-clausthal.de). Please briefly explain your interest/motivation in the internship and attach your current transcript of records to the e-mail (you can generate this in your Stud.IP account). If several people are interested in an internship, the one with the best current unweighted grade point average will be nominated.

Following this, the nominee must submit an application to the internship provider via the IAESTE platform by March 10.

Second way: Regardless of the two internships described above, you can apply for other internship positions and in other countries. Once you have registered on the IAESTE platform, you will have the opportunity to apply for vacant internship positions in 2022 from March 2. The following applies here: first come, first serve - because only one person can apply for an internship position at a time (incidentally, one person can only apply for one internship). Internship positions are also occasionally published later in the year.

The IAESTE internship allocation is based on a one-year cycle. If you are only eligible for an IAESTE internship in the coming year, you should register on the IAESTE platform from October. The IZC will then try to secure a suitable internship for you the following spring.
