Application for the International Parliamentary Fellowship of African States

The International Parliamentary Scholarship (IPS) African States is aimed at committed and politically interested young university graduates from Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Dear students,

The International Parliamentary Scholarship (IPS) African States is under the patronage of the President of the German Bundestag and is aimed at committed and politically interested young university graduates from Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda who want to play an active and responsible role in shaping the democratic future of their countries. The German Bundestag offers these young people the opportunity to get to know the German parliamentary system and the political decision-making processes in the German Bundestag in a one-month compact program. The program takes place annually from 1 January to 31 January.

The admission requirements:

  • Citizenship of a participating country
  • Under 30 years of age at the start of the scholarship on January 1
  • Completed university degree (at least a Bachelor's degree)
  • good knowledge of the German language (at least level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
  • A keen interest in political issues and social/political commitment
