Dear students,
The China Scholarship Program of the Studienstiftung is entering a new round, and we would like to draw your attention to the current call for applications. Within the framework of the program, 15 scholarships will be awarded for a one-year period of study and language training in the People’s Republic of China in the 2027/28 academic year.
The program enables interested students of all disciplines (with the exception of art, music, and design) to explore the country over the course of a year in line with their own academic and personal interests, to acquire solid language skills, to build personal networks, to become familiar with the Chinese university and research landscape, and to gain insights into current political and social developments on the ground.
Admission to the program also comes with the promise of continued support by the Studienstiftung beyond the stay in China.
The scholarship includes the following benefits:
- Study allowance from the Studienstiftung of €300
- Cost-of-living stipend of up to €855 per month, calculated according to German BAföG regulations
- Where applicable, subsidies for health and long-term care insurance
- Fixed allowance for study abroad
- Where applicable, BAföG-based foreign allowance for recipients of the cost-of-living stipend
- Travel allowance
- Tuition fees in China covered by the China Scholarship Council
- Preparatory language course organized by the Sinology Department of the University of Trier
Applications are possible until 1 October 2026. Further information on the program structure and application requirements can be found on our website at https://www.studienstiftung.de/china.
